Flipkart which started as an online book store has gone back to it's roots and introduced a new subsection on it's mobile app called "What India Reads". The subsection which might appear as a simple collection of popular books on the first look is intended to be much more than that. According to Flipkart,
“What India Reads” is all about what you read or would like to read. The app is designed basis genres for now and will soon feature what celebrities and authors read as well.
The idea of the app is to make readers aware of what books are right at the top and also to help them discover books they might have not known of earlier.
The page contains subsections based on Literary Collections, Business, History & Politics, Autobiographies and so on. Other than that it also groups books based on Top Offers, What Business Read, What Teens Read and What Children Read. On top of that the page will feature favourite books of celebrities and authors. Currently it features a top 10 favourite books of Amish author of much acclaimed The Shiva Trilogy. More additions are expected in near future.
